Research Projects

My research with and for young people is applied. That is, wherever possible I work in partnership with service agencies and young people to identify the research questions and produce outcomes designed to impact on policy and practice.

Most of my work has focused on research with and for sexually exploited and trafficked young people. More recently this includes working with colleagues to develop research with young people in gang affected neighbourhoods (see ‘staff profile of Dr. Margaret Melrose and Professor John Pitts for more detail) and those ‘looked after’ by local authorities (see staff profile Dr Isabelle Brodie, University of Bedfordshire).

I have worked with colleagues on the production of materials for young people (see ‘staff profile of Camille Warrington, University of Bedfordshire for more details).

This has included : ‘Out of the box’ and ‘In a new light : photographs and words from the Having our say project’ These publications are available through the National working group for sexually exploited children and young people (www.nationalworkinggroup.co.uk) and photo voice, www.photovoice.org)
